Certificate of Origin

The most-signed document in global trade, rebuilt as code.

The Certificate of Origin is the document customs, buyers, and retailers all fall back to. Volum issues each certificate as a signed cryptographic record, linked to its custody events, verifiable by any downstream party without a phone call.

Sample record

Nyeri County, Kenya.

A production-grade certificate for 19.8 tonnes of Arabica coffee. The Volum record links the origin claim to custody events, certifier signatures, and the underlying trade lot.

The redesign

What the paper certificate cannot do.

01 - verify

Independent verification.

A downstream buyer verifies the certificate against the Volum registry without contacting the issuer.

02 - link

Linked custody trail.

The certificate is anchored to the underlying custody events. Provenance is auditable end-to-end.

03 - revoke

Revocation and correction.

Errors and revocations propagate to every verifier in seconds via the on-chain status list.
